Peavey Artists 3 Doors Down and Nickelback Co-Headline Tour
Peavey Artists 3 Doors Down and Nickelback Co-Headline Tour

Press Release

2004-03-30

March 29, 2004, PEAVEY INT'L. HEADQUARTERS*In what will surely be rock's main event this summer, Peavey artists 3 Doors Down and Nickelback will co-headline a U.S. during June and July. Both multi-Platinum bands will play full sets on the jaunt, the first pairing of the rock giants since 2000 and the first U.S. Nickelback dates in 2004.

"I can't wait to get back on the road with the 3 Doors Down boys," says Chad Kroeger, Nickelback vocalist/guitarist and brother of Peavey endorser Mike Kroeger. "They are like family to us." 3 Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold adds, "We played some shows with Nickelback when we toured in support of our first album, The Better Life, and (we) thought it would be cool to go out with them again."

3 Doors Down's second album, Away From the Sun, has sold over 3 million copies since its 2003 release. Guitarist Matt Roberts uses Peavey 5150 and Triple XXX guitar amplifiers throughout 3 Doors Down's hectic touring schedule and on the band's new live EP, Another 700 Miles.

"I used so many combinations of amplifiers (in the past)," says Roberts, "but I wasn't getting any consistency with my tone. I tried the Peavey gear and it seemed like night after night the tones were consistent. I was using the 5150 (when we started the band), and I'm back with the 5150 today. It's just a great, solid amp with a lot of raw power a great heavy sound. For my clean tones, I'm using the Triple XXX."

Nickelback's latest, The Long Road, debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 late in 2003, and has been a steady seller ever since. Mike Kroeger's Peavey amplification system includes a Pro 500* bass amp head, Pro 810* and Pro 115* bass cabinets, GPS power amplifiers*and a Triple XXX guitar amplifier with matching 412 cabinet. "The low end on my Peavey rig is really smooth, and the mids and highs are nice and clean," says Kroeger. "They seem 'right there,' but still palatable."

Kroeger uses the Triple XXX for his distorted tone, which accounts for 80% to 90% of the band's material. "I just find that all the distortion tones that come for bass are kind of deficient, really," he acquiesces. "I find that real distortion comes out of a guitar amp. The best way we found to incorporate the distortion was (by) running the Triple XXX, blending it in with the rest of the rig. We tried everything, and Peavey simply sounds best."

Management representatives for the bands will announce a full schedule of tour dates, cities and opening bands in the coming days and weeks.
