The Zildjian Company, the world's leading cymbal maker, held its first Artist Session in London on Friday, February 27, 2004. Following the success of annual US Artist Sessions held in Los Angeles and New York City since 2002, Zildjian continued with its theme of showing its newest cymbal introductions to their artists in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
The Artist Session was held at London's famous John Henry's rehearsal facility, and attracted nearly 100 Zildjian Artists and industry friends, as well as members of key British trade publications such as Louise King with Rhythm Magazine, and Ian Croft with Drummer Magazine. Zildjian representatives included: John DeChristopher, Director of Artist Relations & Event Marketing Worldwide, Bob Wiczling, International Marketing Manager, Tina Clarke, International Artist Relations Manager and Rab Zildjian, Director. Industry stalwart, Mike Dolbear of www.MikeDolbear.com was also on hand.
Artists in attendance included: Steve White, Andy Newmark, Mark Mondesir, Andy Gangadeen, Preston Heyman, Blair Cunningham, Mark Brzezicki, Paul Kodish, Frank Tontoh, Ian Thomas, Brett Sawmy, Steve Alexander, Andrew Small, Simon Hanson, Gavin Harrison, Danny Cummings, Fergus Gerrand, Carlos Hercules, Johnny Kalsi, Pete Lewinson, Pete Lockett, Lea Mullen, Billy Osbourne, Ash Soan, Chris Whitten, Louie Palmer and Dave De Rose.
Commented John DeChristopher: "Artist Sessions are 75% drummers hanging out, and 25% product centric. It was a natural progression to expand the concept beyond LA and New York to a significant market like the UK, where we have so many top artists. But the most rewarding part of these events is the genuine appreciation from artists for being part of the Zildjian Family, and a kinship that only exists within the drumming community."
