PEAVEY INFILTRATES JÄGER MUSIC TOUR WITH RAGE® AMP GIVEAWAYS

Press Release

2004-05-05

May 3, 2004, PEAVEY INT'L. HEADQUARTERS*Peavey has rewarded zealous metal fans across the U.S. during the spring 2004 Jägermeister Music Tour by giving away a 15 Watt Rage guitar amplifier at each stop. These exclusive TransTube® amps are customized with Jägermeister and Peavey graphics.

In addition to the Rage amp giveaways, Peavey will give away one fully customized Peavey/Jägermeister Triple XXX® guitar amplifier stack during the tour and has once again helped promote up-and-coming talent by providing backline to the Jägermeister Band Program, which selects a local act in each town to open the show.

Peavey artists Slipknot and Chimaira are performing with Fear Factory on this Peavey-sponsored tour, and fellow Peavey artists Sworn Enemy, God Forbid and Full Blown Chaos have opened select dates. The outing wraps May 14 in Sacramento, Calif.

Cleveland natives Chimaira are touring in support of their latest Roadrunner Records album, The Impossibility of Reason, which guitarist Matt DeVries describes as the band's homage to old-school metal bands Slayer, Metallica and Pantera. "The press dubbed us the 'New Wave of American Heavy Metal,' and I think that's true," he says. "Bands like us, Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage are trying to bring it back."

DeVries and co-guitarist Rob Arnold use Peavey 5150® amplifiers exclusively to create their dark thrash sound. "The whole album is just my 5150 II and Rob's 5150 combined," he says. "We scooped out the mids on my sound to get the rhythm crunch, but Rob's sound is set up for soloing, with a lot more mids. We don't use any effects*we just plug straight in."

For headliners Slipknot, the Jägermeister Music Tour is the band's first major road trip since early 2002. After splintering into side projects for most of 2002 and 2003, Slipknot regrouped with producer Rick Rubin to record Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, due May 25 via Roadrunner. Bassist Paul Gray plays through Peavey GPS® 2600 power amps, Pro 810* bass enclosures and the new Pro 1600* bass amp head, which pushes 1600 massive Watts of power.

Dallas Coyle of God Forbid; Mike Raffinello and Lorenzo Antonucci of Sworn Enemy; and Mike Facci of Full Blown Chaos all use Peavey 5150 guitar amps. God Forbid co-guitarist Doc Coyle uses Peavey Triple XXX® amps.

Peavey also sponsored the spring and fall 2003 Jägermeister outings, which featured endorsers Arch Enemy, Saliva, Stereomud and Systematic.

Equipment provided for the Band Program include a Triple XXX custom stack, Pro 500* bass amp head, MAX® bass preamp, GPS 1500 power amp, 5150 II guitar amp head, 5150 enclosures Pro 810 bass enclosures and Feedback Ferret® and KOSMOS® audio processors.
