Press Release

2004-06-10

AKG Acoustics, U.S. introduces the HEARO 999 Audiosphere II, the world’s most advanced and feature-laden wireless surround sound headphone, at Home Entertainment 2004 room 706. Introduced in Europe a few months ago, the HEARO 999 Audiosphere II (herein referred to as the Hearo 999 II) has been enthusiastically accepted by audiophiles and movie buffs as the finest device of its type available. The Hearo 999 II has been FCC-approved and is now available in the United States.

The German magazine Stereoplay in its January 2004 edition called the Hearo 999 II “the reference standard for wireless headphones” and chose them for inclusion into their reference system. They also said that “the reviewers had never heard this kind of sound quality on any other wireless headphones before.” The German magazine Stereo said “it combines two characteristics that have been unknown in wireless headphones until now: completely interference-free reception throughout an entire building and a sound quality on par with high-caliber hardwired headphones.”

The Hearo 999 II has an incredible array of features (and many more beyond the realm of a press release): o Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital surround processing for accurate decoding of those signals. o Digital and analog inputs for perfect interface with any system. o Digital radio transmission and digital antenna diversity for noise-free, interference-free reception up to 150 feet away even through walls, floors and ceilings. One transmitter unit can be used with several headphone/receivers. o 24-bit digital signal processing with AKG’s patented Individual Virtual AcousticsTM (IVA) that delivers natural binaural sound when listening to headphones plus three different room simulation programs (club, hall, and stadium). A program selection equalizer offers 12 different sound presets to match your personal listening taste with the source material.

o AKG’s patented EARS circuitry with 7 ear-matching curves which electronically equalize the signal to match how you perceive sound based on the size, orientation and shape of your ears. o Harman’s VMAXTM circuit that delivers a surround effect from a stereo program source with only two loudspeakers. o The headphone/receiver utlizes AKG’s VariMotionTM XXL transducers deliver wide frequency response and accurate transients. This same technology is also found in AKG’s professional headphones--the #1 brand of studio headphones. The system comes with both leatherette and soft velour ear cup pads that are comfortable, washable and skin-compatible. o The entire Hearo 999 II system is shipping in a heavily-padded, metal case for transportation and storage.

To utilize the incredible surround sound potential of the Hearo 999 II, the user doesn’t need any other equipment---you simply plug the DVD, VCR, TV, CD player or any other stereo source into the Hearo 999 II’s inputs. If you have an ordinary stereo system, you can hook the tape outputs into the Hearo 999 II’s inputs and utlize its input switching capabilities. The Hearo 999 II takes care of everything else!

With a suggested retail price of $1,199.00, the Hearo 999 Audiosphere II is an easy way to add the magic of surround sound to any audio system without additional loudspeakers or cables. For more information on the Hearo 999 Audiosphere II, please visit www.akg.com.
