PRS Guitars’ Owner Is Again Cited for His Working Toward Improved Education. Cited for his “immeasurable contributions” to the children and school system of Howard County, Maryland, Paul Reed Smith, founder and owner of PRS Guitars, the Stevensville, Maryland-based electric guitar manufacturer was awarded “The Friends of Education” Award in a reception and ceremony on April 15, 2004 at the Department of Education in Ellicott City. The award was established to raise public awareness of the importance of community involvement in achieving the school system’s goals. It recognizes businesses like PRS Guitars that make exemplary contributions to public education. Mr. Smith’s dedication over the years to hold school workshops, seminars and concerts, as well as the 2002 donation of a new electric guitar to every public high school in Maryland, were contributing factors toward his winning this meaningful award.
