As the major sponsor of the Brand Name Records Uproar Stage, Peavey pro audio reached thousands of concertgoers every day of the Vans Warped Tour this summer. Armed with Peavey professional QWR Series loudspeakers and the patented Feedback FerretR II feedback eliminator, the Uproar Stage easily endured the grueling 44-date trip and hardcore abuse that comes with a punk rock tour. Brand Name co-founder and Uproar Stage manager Lou Galluch says this Peavey sound system helped the bands perform better because they could hear themselves well---a rarity for any band touring the underground circuit.
"Thanks to the enormous power Peavey gave us," he says, "we were able to provide fans with a clear, well mixed and produced set. Our Peavey sound system ran without fail every day and was an amazing asset to the Uproar Stage."
Peavey techs based the stage's stereo three-way system around multiple QW Series loudspeakers and an Architectural Acoustics Digitool* MX programmable processor and control system. They took advantage of the Digitool's flexible 8x8 I/O configuration, using it as a crossover to split the signal between sets of QW 4 speakers and QW 218 speakers at stage left and stage right.
The sound techs used two QW 4 speakers to deliver the mid and high frequencies, sending the mids through dual 15" Pro RiderR speakers and highs through CHR 942qt constant directivity horns equipped with 4"
44XT* titanium compression drivers. A pair of Crest Audio Pro 5200* amps drove the QW 4 speakers and the QW ML/MR stage monitors. The low frequencies---powered by two Crest Audio Pro 9200* amps---went to dual QW 218 subs, which feature two high-powered 18" Low RiderR woofers each.
A full range of Peavey PVM* Series vocal, instrument and drum microphones sent the source signals into a comprehensive Peavey live sound processing rig, which included two Feedback Ferret II automatic feedback eliminators, four CEL*-2a compressor/expander/limiter units, two DeltaFexR multi-effects processors and three Q231FX* equalizers.
The Uproar Stage hosted two of the Atlanta-based label's bands, The Letters Organize and Nor Am I, plus a rotating roster provided by influential indie labels such as Ferret Records (Boys Night Out) and Victory Records (Silverstein). The Uproar Stage also hosted bands from Epitaph, Drive Thru and Tooth & Nail, among others.
