Blue Sky International Launches "Demo Direct” Program Press Release 2004-10-04
Blue Sky International has begun an innovative new program allowing potential purchasers of its ProDesk™ 2.1 monitoring system to try this system for up to 14 days, free-of-charge. The program, known as Demo Direct, was specifically designed to let customers evaluate a ProDesk system in their own workspace, thus providing a true, real-world setting to help them make their purchasing decision.
Customers simply go to the Blue Sky International website (www.abluesky.com), fill out a request form for the 14 day trial, and then Blue Sky will arrange the rest.
“We wanted to develop a no-risk, real-world evaluation program that allows customers to try a ProDesk 2.1 system in their own work environment. With Demo Direct, we’ve now taken the mystery out of how the monitors are actually going to sound in the user’s studio,” states Chris Fichera, Vice President of Blue Sky International. “We believe there is no better tool to help a customer make that all important purchasing decision than having the freedom to evaluate a speaker system in their workspace. Blue Sky’s Demo Direct is a comprehensive approach to the trial process that will enable our customers to feel confident in their choice from the very beginning,” Fichera concludes.
About Blue Sky ProDesk
ProDesk is a 2.1 system consisting of two Blue Sky SAT 5 bi-amplified Satellite speakers and a complementary powered Sub 8 subwoofer. Employing Blue Sky’s proprietary computer-optimized crossover and bass-management networks, the ProDesk delivers seamless full range audio from the subwoofer to the main monitors with smooth on- and off-axis frequency response.
The core of a ProDesk 2.1 system is a pair of Blue Sky SAT 5 bi-amplified Satellite speakers. Each features a cast aluminum frame, 5.25" hemispherical woofer and .75" dual concentric diaphragm tweeter with integral waveguide for superior off-axis response. Powered by two low-distortion 60-Watt amplifiers with a computer optimized electronic crossover, the SAT 5 Satellites deliver clean, accurate sound with a reproduction frequency response of
80 Hz to 20k Hz +3.0 dB (200 Hz to 10 kHz +1.5 dB). On the rear panel there is a Power Switch, Gain Control with LED power indicator, 80 Hz High Pass Filter Switch and a balanced XLR Input. The Blue Sky SAT 5 Satellite speakers are housed in MDF enclosures and measure a compact 10.88" H x 6.62" W x 11.46" D, weighing 24 lbs. each. The SAT 5 powered speakers feature full video shielding, perfect for use near video monitors, and also come standard with OmniMount® type 30/75 (M6 x 1.00 mm) mounting inserts.
Complementing the SAT 5 as part of the ProDesk system is the new Blue Sky Sub 8. Specifically designed to match the performance of the SAT 5 Satellite speakers, the Sub 8 features a cast aluminum frame, 8" high-excursion woofer with 2" voice coil, and has a proprietary 100-Watt amplifier with a frequency response of 30 Hz to 200 Hz +3 dB (anechoic – direct input) and a typical in-room response of 20 Hz to 200 Hz (3000 Cubic Foot Room). In addition, the Sub 8 has a built-in 2.1 bass management system with a 4th order, 80 Hz Linkwitz-Riley low-pass filter. The requisite 2nd order 80 Hz Linkwitz-Riley High-Pass filters are included in each satellite. Rear panel functions include: Right/Left In and Out; Sub In and Out (for connecting multiple subwoofers); a Remote Control Port, for use with the Functional Volume Control (FVC); Sub Gain & Power LED; Power switch; and Fuse. Measuring 15.72" H x 13.72" W x 15.64" D and weighing 48 lbs., the Sub 8 features MDF construction with four recessed M6 x 1.00 mm threaded inserts for either spiked or rubber feet.
As an exclusive option for the ProDesk system, Blue Sky is also introducing the Functional Volume Control (FVC). The FVC is a simple yet effective wired remote volume control for the ProDesk 2.1 System. The FVC addresses the concerns of many users that need a two-channel volume control for digital computer audio workstations.
As with Sky System One, the ProDesk system is also fully compatible with the Blue Sky BMC, for 5.1 monitoring applications. Making a ProDesk 5.1 system one of the most cost-effective high performance 5.1 monitoring systems available.
