Music for Everyone Gives Away Satriani Lesson, Peavey Amp Press Release 2004-10-30
A network of Southern California music stores is offering guitar players and enthusiasts the deal of a lifetime: demo one piece of Peavey gear and win a private guitar lesson with legend Joe Satriani, plus his new signature Peavey JSX* amplifier.
The unique promotion-conceived by Music For Everyone, an association of 13 Greater Los Angeles musical instrument retailers, and sponsored by leading manufacturer Peavey-will run through November 30.
"Customers who visit our stores can test drive any Peavey product and then sign up for the contest," says Todd Trent, owner of Ontario Music, a Music For Everyone member store in Ontario, Calif. "Each store participates equally, so every store's ballots go into one giant ballot box. Everyone has just as much a chance to win as anyone else."
Trent adds that customers to his store have responded positively to the giveaway, and entries aren't confined to rock guitar players. Jazz and blues players-even vocalists-are among those demo'ing Peavey guitars, basses, amplifiers, microphones and loudspeakers in order to enter.
"We're getting the full spectrum of players," he says. "When you give away something of the JSX's caliber, it appeals to everyone-even those who aren't familiar with the artist involved. But for some people, getting a free lesson with a legend is enough draw. Customers freak out when they walk in and see that they can win a personal lesson with Joe Satriani."
One second prize winner will receive a Peavey Bandit* guitar amp; one third prize winner will receive a Peavey Backstage* guitar amp; and 50 runners-up will receive an autographed copy of Satriani's latest Sony album, Is There Love in Space.
Music For Everyone stores include Ontario Music; DeKarr Music in Pasadena; Music Mike's in Riverside; Colton Music in Colton; Hi Line Music in Rancho Cucamongo; Johnny Thompson Music in Monterey Park; La Habra Music in La Habra; Cassell's Music in San Fernando; Stockdale Music in Bakersfield; Clark Baker Music in El Centro; Corona Music in Corona; Musician's Outlet in Palm Desert; and Styles Music in Pomona.
The three-channel Peavey JSX guitar amplifier combines the tonal flexibility and responsive, versatile gain structures Joe Satriani has always sought into a single guitar amplifier. The JSX is an all-tube, 120 Watt amp with a fully adjustable noise gate, independent three-channel EQ on each channel (with Fat tone switches on the Crunch and Ultra channels) and global presence and resonance controls. The power amp can be configured for EL34 or 6L6GS tubes.
