Furman Sound Denies Claims and Stands Behind TechnologyFurmanPosted 2004-12-21 December 14, 2004 - Furman Sound, Inc., the leading manufacturer of AC power products, has
responded to a complaint filed by New Frontier Electronics, Inc. d/b/a SurgeX, rejecting their
claims in U.S. Federal Court and filing a counter claim against New Frontier. The words in question, “series mode”, refer to a common electrical configuration and are not
owned by any individual or organization. Furman’s Series II line of products does, in fact,
employ this technology. However the technology in Series II units goes above and beyond
typical series mode protection with a total package called SMP Plus which incorporates Linear
Filtering Technology (LiFT), Extreme Voltage Shutdown (E.V.S.), MOVs and series mode
protection (SMP) to provide the most comprehensive AC filtering and surge suppression system
available. These technologies, when combined, provide a level of protection far in excess of
series mode protection alone. SMP Plus offers the highest level of protection for connected
equipment with the lowest clamping voltage of any power conditioner or surge suppressor on
the market and is available exclusively from Furman Sound.
Furman has been designing, developing, and manufacturing professional electronic products
since 1974, and is the world leader in the power conditioning market. Since its inception
manufacturing products for the professional music industry, Furman has maintained its place as
the industry leader while, at the same time, stretching the bounds of technology to provide
power purification solutions for applications including sound reinforcement, audio / video
recording, broadcast systems, data processing, telecomm, and home theater.
