The purpose of this competition is to promote live music and showcase some of the hot guitar talent out there. Guitarists and Bass players are welcomed to register for this contest which will be held in Calgary, Alberta during the month of March. Some fabulous prizes will be awarded to the top three contenders. The true winner of this contest will be live music.
In a continuing effort to promote live music axecity.com, an online guitar magazine and community forum website, is sponsoring the 2005 Guitar Challenge. The purpose of this guitar wars type competition is to promote live music and showcase some of the hot guitar talent out there.
Guitarists and Bass players are welcomed to register for this contest which will be held in Calgary, Alberta during the month of March, 2005. In addition to the fabulous guitar prizes, every contestant has a lot to gain by registering. Each contestant will be profiled on the axecity.com website with every performance recorded and videotaped. This is great promotional material for any level of musician.
Axecity.com representatives have expressed that "this is much more than a mere musical competition. It is a vehicle to get people back into the venues to rediscover live music. The contest facilitates that and allows musicians to contribute to that goal. Sure there are great prizes for great guitar performances but the bottom line is that every one wins when they have helped get people to rediscover live music. These people are our audiences and their numbers have been dwindling over the last several years. There is a lot of competition for that entertainment dollar but we know if they come out to see an event like this it will spark a renewed interest and support."
The industry including Line 6, makers of the famous Variax Guitar and other guitar products, have been very supportive of this event. The event will be held over four Saturdays in March and local live music establishments will be providing the stages to carry the venue.
Axecity.com hopes to attract all levels of guitarists to compete in this challenge. "We hope the big guns will come out and help turn the tide by making this a musical event not to be missed."
