MEINL's 2005 Cymbal News Now OnlineMeinlPosted 2005-01-17 All of MEINL's 2005 new cymbal lines and add-on models, which all will be introduced to the public at next week's Winter NAMM Session, can now be seen on meinlcymbals.com. New lines for 2005 are the Mb20 Series, Soundcaster Custom, some very innovative add-ons to the Generation X Series, and several new Byzance Range Models including the 13" and 14" Fast Hihats (designed by Thomas Lang).
Mb20 Series
MEINL's Mb20 cymbals are a combination of superior materials, craftmanship and strength, resulting in an aggressive sound. These cymbals were designed for musicality and maximum projection.
Mb20 cymbals are traditionally made using the single-cast procedure. This means that every cymbal is crafted from an individual cast blank.
Every Mb20 cymbal is hand hammered into shape. This extensive manufacturing process is the foundation of their outstanding sound characteristics.
Both the highly-polished cymbal surface and the deep hammer hits result in a very remarkable look, and the line's heavy weights enable an aggressive and cutting sound.
Mb20 Hihats
Aggressive, powerful and loud sound with a penetrating, energetic open hihat and a cutting chick.
What is unique about the Mb20 hihats?
The Mb20 hihat models have been designed for loud music. They are slightly heavier than usual hihats and are available in 14" and 15" soundwave versions which result in a more powerful sound that dominantly cuts through any given volumes. The polished surface adds additional brilliancy to their sound for an even stronger presence. Designed for heavy hitters and loud band environments.
Mb20 Crashes
A mix of explosive power and tone for cutting projection. Loud and direct with a clarified response.
What is special about Mb20 crashes?
The MEINL Mb20 crashes are available in 16" to 20" diameters. They are completely hand hammered from premium B20 bronze and are high-polished. During their development, a big emphasis was put on the weight- and sound balance of the cymbals. This means that all Mb20 crash cymbals are harmonically matched, enabling the drummer to pick a very musical set of crashes without any disturbing harmonies. They blend in which each other perfectly as well as with the other instruments in the band.
Mb20 Rides
Heavy rides - Heavier weight and high-polished finish enables a bright, dry and glassy ping. Excellent clear stick definition with medium sustain.
Heavy bell rides - Solid, large bell produces a clear, dominant sound with ful-bodied attack. Loud and powerful, yet musical.
What is unique about the 22" Mb20 Heavy Bell Ride?
The 22" Mb20 Heavy Bell Ride is a very heavy ride cymbal hand hammered from premium B20 bronze alloy. Remarkable is its wide spread bell with an enormous thickness. It has a defined, cutting, and focused ping sound with no wash at all. Especially suitable for fast ride patterns played on top of a double bass figure due to its ability to cut through loud band settings without unwanted build up.
Mb20 Splashes
A loud, tight high-pitched sound with an extremely direct and cutting attack. A highly durable splash.
Mb20 China
Hand hammered Rock China with an aggressive and brash sound. Effective for ride playing, accenting and effects.
Also, you will find short mp3 clips of every cymbal available (including all the new cymbals of course) on the related product pages there. Make sure to check it all out on meinlcymbals.com.
