Peavey Teams with 2005 Zippo Hot Tour to Find New Talent (Peavey | Posted 2005-03-01)  Peavey proudly announces that it has joined forces with Zippo Manufacturing to sponsor the 2005 Zippo Hot Tour, a five-round unsigned band competition culminating in a 10-city national tour. Zippo Hot Tour is the only nationwide music competition where the fans choose the bands.
"We're excited about partnering with the Zippo Hot Tour because it reaches musicians who are living their music every single day," says Tony Moscal, senior manager of marketing and product development at Peavey, which will supply guitar and bass amplifiers, wireless systems, microphones, cables and stands in the winner's prize package. "Peavey has always had such a great rapport with musicians because we give them versatile instruments and amps that just won't quit. That means everything when you're on the road."
The participating bands will compete locally, and the winning band will be flown to Hollywood, Calif., to showcase its talent to A&R executives at Capitol Records. The band will then join the 10-city tour with a national headlining band in their very own tour bus this fall, as well as take home a Grand Prize Package of music gear totaling $100,000.
Included in the Grand Prize Package is a full Peavey backline consisting of 6505™ and Valve King™ guitar amps and enclosures, Pro Bass™ Series bass amps and enclosures, Pro Comm® wireless systems and PVM™ microphones, cables and stands. Other participating companies include PureVolume and DiscFarm, among others. Select bands may also get the opportunity to appear in a nationally televised special, as HDNet TV returns to Zippo Hot Tour to chronicle the competition and present the Zippo Hot Tour Concert Series later this year.
The 2005 Zippo Hot Tour competition kicked off nationwide this month, and unsigned rock bands from ten U.S. cities have until April 14, 11:59:59 PM EST, to register at www.zippohottour.com to qualify for the first round of online competition. Participating cities include Denver; Cincinnati; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Phoenix; Austin, Texas; Memphis, Tenn.; Orlando, Fla.; and Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, N.C.
