dbx Professional Products, a Salt Lake City-based manufacturer of professional signal processing products and a division of Harman International, is showing the new DriveRack 4800 System Processor. The dbx DriveRack 4800 provides incredible versatility, sonic excellence and intuitive control for live performance applications and is the next generation of the critically acclaimed line of DriveRack processors.

Featuring all the familiar processing functions and a host of new algorithms, including dbx’s Advanced Feedback Suppression (AFS), the intuitive DriveRack 4800 is designed to provide the front-of-house (FOH) engineer, monitor engineer and systems design contractor with the necessary control tools for any live sound reinforcement situation. The unit’s 96 kHz processing engine and standard digital I/O further extends frequency response and reduces latency, while an optional CobraNet™ card enhances the versatility. Utilizing 4 analog and AES/EBU inputs, with 8 analog and AES/EBU outputs, the DriveRack 4800 also features Harman Professional’s latest HiQnet™ protocol. The HiQnet control backbone can be used to monitor and control signal routing as well as the processing of multiple DriveRack 4800 units from various locations all using standard Ethernet equipment including routers and wireless access points. HiQnet control extends to the new Harman Professional System Architect GUI, which provides user assignable signal routing and control groups as well as customized control panels so a system can be made as sophisticated or as simple as desired. Additionally, the Harman Professional System Architect GUI supplies complete manipulation capability of not just the DriveRack 4800 but also any other HiQnet-enabled Harman Professional products, such as Crown® I-Tech amplifiers, JBL® DrivePack™ loaded speakers, AKG® WMS 4000 wireless microphones and the Studer® Vista 8 mixing console.

With an impressive complement of processing features including selectable DSP inserts on the inputs and outputs, a wealth of EQ, Delay, classic dbx Compression and Limiting, Bandpass and Crossover Filters, the dbx DriveRack 4800 has an ergonomically designed front panel with full color screen display to speed manual operation and decrease eye fatigue, especially in low-light situations.

The dbx DriveRack 4800 is available at an estimated street price of $3999.98.
