Korg Unveils KDM-2 Digital Metronome

Press Release

2005-08-29

Korg, an industry leader in metronome and tuner technology, introduces the KDM-2 Digital Metronome. This compact, digital metronome accurately indicates tempo via audio and visual references, and offers practice functions and settings that are easily accessible via a front panel switch and dial.

An enhanced version of Korg’s cylindrical resonator speaker provides increased volume and clear tone. To suit various user preferences, three different PCM beat sounds with adjustable volume are included (cowbell/agogo bells/clave), as well as a mute mode that utilizes a large LED for visual indication of the tempo.

The KDM-2 contains 19 beat patterns — from basic beats to sophisticated variations like son clave and rumba clave — that cover numerous musical styles. The tempo can be set in any of three ways: Full Step mode offers tempo adjustments in steps of one over a range of 30-252; Pendulum Step mode makes use of preset tempo settings; and Tap Tempo mode enables manual tempo setting at the desired interval.

A convenient Sound Out mode outputs a precise reference tone (±1 cent) for tuning by ear. 12 pitches from C4 – B4 are offered, and calibration is adjustable.

Additional features include a Memory backup function that automatically remembers tempo, beat, calibration and reference pitch settings when the power is turned off, and a PHONE jack for connecting to a 1/8” earphone for private practice.

The KDM-2 has a long battery life (approximately 120 hours of continuous use from four included AAA batteries), measures a compact 4.17" (W) x 1.91" (D) x 4.19" (H) and weighs 7.41 oz. (including batteries).

The Korg KDM-2 is available in August at a U.S. MSRP of $75.
