Following the release of his group Ocianic’s debut CD, U, and time on the road with Savage Garden, guitarist Ben Carey is currently out with Lifehouse on their world tour in support of the new hit single “You and Me.”

Carey’s VOX gear can be seen onstage with him night after night. He’s a “huge fan” of VOX and a “proud owner” of some great vintage pieces, including a Collector Series VOX AC30 amp. “I’ll only use it in the studio for recording, because of the hard conditions an amp takes on tour,” he says. His AC30 Custom Classic amps are making the trip though, as he notes, “The new AC30s are incredibly reliable. You can tell a lot of thought went into them. They are actually built with that same vintage tone, but are also built to travel.” Carey elaborates, “You can get pretty heavy, fat, guitar sounds out of a VOX amp without too much break-up. VOX amps have a breadth about them that just makes the notes seem very three-dimensional.” Carey also recently acquired three new VOX Cooltron pedals: The Brit Boost, Bulldog, and his favorite, the Big Ben. “That pedal rules!” he exclaims.
