Team Sleep's Chino Moreno and Todd Wilkonson Give Props to the VOX AC30 Custom Classic(Vox | Posted 2005-10-01) High school friends Chino Moreno, of Deftones fame, and Todd Wilkinson have joined with turntablist DJ Crook, bassist Rick Verrett and drummer Zach Hill to create the long-awaited debut album from Team Sleep. The band’s self-titled release mixes rock elements with electronic grooves. In April 2003, Team Sleep’s first official single, “The Passportal” was featured on The Matrix: Reloaded soundtrack. Now on tour in support of their new album, the band is getting even greater response.
Team Sleep relies on their new VOX AC30 Custom Classic 2x12 amp to take their tunes out on the road. “I was going to buy an old, used AC30, because I loved the way it sounded. That was the amp that got me hooked on VOX. But then I heard the new amp. I like the simplicity of it and the tone,” Team Sleep guitarist Wilkinson comments. Moreno is also using the AC30CC2X, and affirms, “I love this amp. I enjoy the buzzsaw-like distortion I get using the mids cranked up, as well as the very lush, clean tone. I most definitely plan on using this amp with the Deftones!” he declares, adding, “I’ve always known of the classic AC30 sound. Team Sleep was my first experience using it for its full capability…beautiful, clean tone and an ear ripping gain.”
