SABIAN and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Make Some Noise with Rock School DVD Promotion

Press Release

2005-10-06

SABIAN, the world’s leading cymbal manufacturer, today announced its exclusive promotional partnership with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for the United States DVD release of the documentary Rock School. The film details a real life school of rock where a group of kids get in touch with their inner rock star. This partnership marks the first time that SABIAN has joined forces with a major studio to promote a theatrical home release, according to Dan Barker, president of SABIAN.

“Rock School showcases the dedication and passion that people of all ages - from young kids to adults - have for music,” said Barker. “We feel that passion in everything we do at SABIAN, so it only seemed natural for us to partner together for this promotion.”

SABIAN will promote the DVD release through a variety of channels, including putting special stickers on its XS20 cymbal sets, dedicating a space on its official Web site for consumers to enter the promotion, and distributing mass e-mail blasts to its database of consumers to promoting the film’s availability. The promotion will feature a grand prize of SABIAN XS20 cymbals with a leading brand drum set, as well as second-place prizing of 25 SABIAN cymbals autographed by some of rock’s greatest drummers who use the product.

“This promotional partnership allows us to reach a niche demographic that is tuned into the music vibe and whole-heartedly dedicated to the scene,” said Carlo Vespe, director of national promotions, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. “Through SABIAN’s large consumer base, we are able to reach more music fans who will appreciate this movie.”

To promote the partnership, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be putting stickers on the outside of the DVD, placing a promotional insert inside DVD cases, and distributing an email to its database, all of which will send consumers to SABIAN.com to enter to win.
