Story of the Year Unlocks New Guitar Tones with Peavey 6505*

Press Release

2005-11-23

Guitar tone is clearly subjective, but Story of the Year guitarist Phil Snead went to great lengths in search of his signature tone -- even layering wildly diverse amps and tones while recording his band's new self-titled album. He found his missing link in the all-tube Peavey 6505.

"I wanted something original that was my own, and the 6505 was the only thing that I was dead-set on having in the mix," he said. "On the new record I used the 6505 a ton to give really different tones high-end shape. I needed that edge to give the rhythm tracks some squeal."

As such a major weapon in Snead's new tone arsenal, the Peavey 6505 naturally found its way from the studio to a lead role in Story of the Year's current world tour.

"The 6505 worked so efficiently on the record that it was a must on the road, and the durability was a no brainer," he adds. "I could throw it out of a speeding truck and it would probably only get louder! It's a solid amp and a perfect tool for what I'm doing with my tones."

Named in celebration of Peavey's first 40 years (1965 to 2005), Peavey 6505 Series amps feature five 12AX7 preamp tubes and four 6L6GC power amp tubes, with presence and resonance controls and three-band EQ for taming their notorious tone.

Peavey 6505 guitar amplifiers can also be found on tour and record with Atreyu, Bleeding Through, ZAO, Unearth, Arch Enemy, Agnostic Front, Sworn Enemy, Blindside, As I Lay Dying, P.O.D., The Haunted, Visqueen, God Forbid, Ted Nugent, North Mississippi Allstars and many more.
