Peavey Adds Powered SP* 5.5P to Popular Loudspeaker Series

Peavey proudly introduces the SP 5.5P, an updated and powered version of its SP 5 loudspeaker enclosure. Peavey's legendary SP Series has been a sound-reinforcement staple for more than two decades, and this powered version is lighter and louder than ever.

The SP 5.5P features a 15" Peavey Black Widow® loudspeaker with a 4" voice coil and field-replaceable basket. These enclosures also feature RX* 22 compression drivers with ferrofluid cooling and patented Quadratic Throat Waveguide* technology, which yields dramatically reduced horn distortion and clearer sound. In addition, the horn's innovative asymmetrical design aims the sound down to the audience, not over their heads.

The power section features a bi-amplified, 1000-watt power amplifier with exclusive DDT* speaker protection, full-range 1/4" and Neutrik® Speakon® I/O and a Loop In/Out jack for daisy chaining multiple units. Nine-ply Baltic birch construction utilizing extensive internal bracing produces far tighter bass response than plastic speaker boxes, especially below 200 Hz, as plastic designs lose low-frequency energy through vibration. The SP 5.5P also includes built-in stand-mount adapters and black carpet covering.

The Peavey SP5.5P enclosure will be available in Q2 2006 from authorized Peavey retailers.
