NAMM Update: Boss BR-532 Multi-Track Studio!BossPosted 2001-07-24 Looking for a kick ass digital recording solution under $500? Check out the Boss BR-532! We were very impressed with the demo of this unit at the Roland / Boss booth and are sure you will be too.
The fella that demo'd the unit put together a 4 track song in about 5 minutes. Sure, the song was short, but he recorded using the built in drum patterns, used a COSM effect to build a bass line with his guitar, put together a silky rhythm and then a searing lead track over top. The result was a very clean sounding, yet rockin' recording that really showed how easy to use this unit is.
Here's some official scoop from Boss:
With the BR-532 Digital Studio, BOSS gives guitarists and songwriters the freedom to record their music anytime, anyplace. Using SmartMedia, the portable BR-532 can record up to four primary tracks-each with eight Virtual Tracks-which can be mixed down along with a separate stereo drum track and onboard effects, and then transferred digitally to a computer or CD burner. And with its ultra-affordable price, there's never been a more convenient way to capture your music while it's fresh.
- Compact and affordable 4-track digital recorder with separate stereo Rhythm Guide drum track
- Records to 32MB SmartMedia card (included); expandable to 128MB
- Intuitive, BOSS-style operation for easy recording and mixing
- 4-track simultaneous playback; 32 Virtual Tracks (V-Tracks) for recording
- Sophisticated digital editing including Copy, Move, Paste and Undo

We think this unit is going to be even more successful than the BR-8 was for Boss. Stay tuned for an in-depth review in the weeks to come!
