MediaMatrix recently hosted its inaugural
NION Technology & Applications seminar to a group of commercial audio and communications
system designers. NION is the next-generation MediaMatrix digital processing technology and the
successor to the original MediaMatrix, which set the precedent for modern audio processing.

"We are establishing a foundation for what we see as a pivotal technology, just as we did with the
first Fundamentals of MediaMatrix seminar in 1994," says Will Roland, operations manager at
MediaMatrix. "Since this is a completely new technology, its evolution will enhance the seminar
curriculum just as the original MediaMatrix did. We will continue to support this groundbreaking
technology through intensive educational seminars."
The NION Technology & Applications seminar, held April 18-22 at Peavey International
Headquarters, introduced NION technology through a balanced mix of lectures, presentations and
hands-on exercises that provided an in-depth look at the products, technology and applications in
which these systems can be used.
"Because NION creates system possibilities well beyond traditional or alternative solutions,"
Roland adds, "there is an inherent challenge to ensure that system designers are able to get a solid
base of fundamentals under their belt. Many of today's designers are not fully aware that this
product can, in a very fundamental way, change the entire design process. We fully expect the
NION Technology & Applications seminar to grow significantly as we continue to develop the
NION product line."
NION couples an advanced DSP engine with the industry’s most efficient audio algorithms to
redefine the possibilities in audio and communications installations. NION features MediaMatrix’s
Scalable I/O Architecture, a modular I/O scheme that supports a variety of plug-in cards for
maximum versatility, plus multiple module bays that support up to 64 simultaneous audio channels
each; an integrated CobraNet port that provides another 64 channels and a 512-channel digital audio
bus for seamless stacking and redundant, self-healing configurations.
MediaMatrix has become the leading audio, communication and media system for the professional
systems integration industry. From basic audio processing to fully integrated and managed systems,
MediaMatrix provides system designers with a vast array of software and hardware tools. Advanced
DSP algorithms and an extremely efficient design interface have made MediaMatrix the standard in
configurable audio systems throughout the world.
Since its inaugural session in 1994, the popular MediaMatrix Seminar Series has become an
industry event, providing instruction to system integrators, designers, consultants, engineers and
end-users on MediaMatrix products, technology, applications and design. These seminars are a
continuation of the educational conferences Hartley Peavey began hosting in 1975.
Now celebrating its 40th anniversary as one of the largest manufacturers of musical instruments and
professional sound equipment in the world, Peavey holds more than 130 patents and produces more
than 2,000 products, which are distributed throughout the United States and to 136 other countries.
