 Michael Kelly Introduces Limited Edition Acoustic BassMichael KellyPosted 2002-07-08 Michael Kelly Guitar Company has added the Quilt Custom 2 to its growing line of acoustic basses. It features a great looking quilt maple body, as well as a distinctive custom inlay. The vine style inlay is made from pearl and abalone and extends the full length of the fingerboard. It is highlighted by a dragonfly accent made from blue abalone.
The quilt maple body contributes to this instrument's appearance and performance. The all maple body gives the bass added volume and attack. The quilt maple on the front, back and sides provides a true custom appearance. That look is enhanced by five translucent high gloss finish options. These choices include amber, blue, natural blonde, black and amberburst. The body and rosewood fingerboard on all of these basses are fully bound. It is equipped with Michael Kelly's own acoustic bass pre-amp system. The active electronics include volume and tone controls.
Michael Kelly will only produce 125 of these basses in each of the color options. Like all Michael Kelly instruments, these basses are sold directly to musicians and not available in any music store. The Quilt Custom 2 has a special direct price of $489.00 or $579.00 with a hard case.
