Millions of new drummers will learn their basic drumming skills on the new Rock Band video game featuring Ludwig in-game drums and a pair of Ludwig-branded drum sticks. From vintage Stones to modern-day Killers, the hotly-anticipated videogame “Rock Band” has a soundtrack that spans rock history. With 58 tracks from five decades, the game allows drummers, along with guitar and vocal tracks, to play along with the greats of punk, metal, classic rock and everything in between. It’s only natural that the iconic Ludwig name in drums and sticks were the first choice of the Rock Band developers.
Harmonix Music Systems, developer of the blockbuster Guitar Hero™ franchise, MTV: Music Television, a division of MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), and distributed by Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced that the recently introduced Rock Band™ videogame will have Ludwig drums and Ludwig-branded sticks exclusively featured in the all-new platform for music fans and gamers to experience and connect with music.
Rock Band™, Harmonix and MTV chose Ludwig Drums, the world's most respected manufacturer of drum outfits and accessories, so that a variety of Rock Band in-game drum outfits would be modeled after the legendary Ludwig models, including Vistalite, Stainless and Glitter sets, some of the most enduring and iconic models of drum outfits in the world. To deliver the ultimate interactive music experience, a pair of Ludwig-branded sticks will also be included with each game. "This is more than a branding opportunity," said Jim Catalano, director of marketing for Ludwig. "Drum players will be learning actual drum patterns when they play the game. Once they experience Rock Band™ drumming, their next natural step is to check out the latest in Ludwig drums and accessories."
Rock Band™ will allow players to play solo or recruit bandmates and jam side-by-side or virtually online, playing music from the greatest rock artists of all time. Built on unprecedented deals with the world's biggest record labels and music publishers, the music featured in Rock Band will span all genres of rock and include many master recordings. The title was released on PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® in time for the 2007 holiday shopping season.
