Mackie's New 15-Inch Active Subwoofer Now Shipping

Mackie Designs Inc. (NASDAQ: MKIE), today announced that the new SWA1501 15-Inch Active subwoofer that premiered to overwhelming response at the InfoComm show in Las Vegas last June, is currently shipping and will be available for sale through Mackie dealers by mid August. The new SWA1501 (US $1199 MSRP) is an upgraded replacement for the popular SRS1500-offering advancements in operating efficiency and improved sonic performance. The SWA1501 is ideally suited for small to medium sized touring groups and mobile DJs as well as fixed installations in churches, corporate facilities, and nightclubs.
"The SWA1501 utilizes the same 'Active' amplifier technology behind Mackie's SRM450 and Fussion systems as well as a new porting design that delivers more efficient operation than the SRS1500 it replaces," commented Ivan Schwartz, Corporate Director, Global Sound Reinforcement Product and Market Development.
On board is a high-quality RCF Precision transducer with high-temperature inside/outside coil combined with a 500-watt (700 watt peak) application-specific amplifier. The cabinet is constructed with 18mm thick, 13-ply Baltic-Birch plywood finished in back splatter paint and equipped with cast aluminum side handles. Together, these robust components allow the SA1501 to deliver an impressive 128 dB of output.
Input output options allow the SA1501 to be easily configured for most any application. Stereo and mono input is provided through XLR style connectors while a high-pass output allows for connection to active full-range speakers or amplifiers powering passive full range speakers. Four function LEDs provide power on, limit, signal present, and thermal condition indication. A rotary level control allows adjustment from
-15dB to +5dB.
