Roland & BOSS Sponsor Bob Dylan Exhibition at Skirball Cultural Center

Roland Corporation U.S. and BOSS U.S. are proud to sponsor the Bob Dylan’s American Journey, 1956-1966 exhibition at the Skirball Cultural Center. Organized by Experience Music Project (EMP), Bob Dylan’s American Journey, 1956–1966, is the first comprehensive exhibition to examine Bob Dylan’s formative early career, illuminating how he changed the face and sound of music within one fertile decade in his personal and artistic development.

Currently on display until June 8th, the exhibition features a satellite exhibit, “Interactive Music Experience,” developed in association with Roland and EMP. Visitors of all skill levels can "Sing and Play along with Bob" using numerous Roland products, including its popular HD-1 V-Drums, VIMA keyboards, and HPD-10 Handsonic pads. Visitors can also “remix” an authentic Dylan 4-track recording on a BOSS BR-1600 digital recorder, and can even get on stage and jam on a custom electric guitar that plays phrases while pressing BOSS pedals to change the sound – no playing ability required! By “playing along” with Dylan songs and operating effects gear, visitors receive a unique, firsthand experience of Dylan’s music and the creative process.

Also on view at the exhibit are more than 150 historical artifacts, along with listening and viewing stations featuring classic tracks and rare performance and interview footage of Dylan. Highlights include Bruce Langhorne’s tambourine -- the inspiration for Dylan’s song “Mr. Tambourine Man,” a recording of Dylan’s 1961 debut concert at Carnegie Chapter Hall, and a letter Dylan wrote to Joan Baez’ mother in which he masquerades as Baez herself.

Advance, timed-entry tickets to Bob Dylan’s American Journey, 1956–1966 are available online at www.skirball.org or by phone at (877) SCC-4TIX or (877) 722-4849.
