It's very easy in today's world of digital recording products to end up with a tool that is way overpriced with a learning curve that would make Einstein scratch his head. Many times, these tools provide very in-depth features in a specific category, but are sometimes so good at doing one particular thing, you end up purchasing multiple software packages to accomplish a variety of tasks. Enter MySoundStudio, the entry level jack of all trades of digital recording for your PC.
We received our demo about a month ago and have been playing with the various features and functionality available in the product since then. With MySoundStudio you can do just about anything to an audio track in the many file formats the software supports. This tool provides multi-track recording capabilities, the ability to edit WAV, MP3, AIFF, AU, RAW/PCM, AVI 2.0 and Music CD tracks, more than 10 different effects, ripping, looping, record while playing and more, all in an easy to navigate, user-friendly interface.
Probably the most fun we had with the product was combining some tracks from another review product, Groove Doctors Professional Music Production Set, with our own bad creations hammered out on the guitar and bass. We even patched in some favorite cuts from popular tunes we had on MP3 to further enhance the mix. MySoundStudio allows you 6 tracks for your mixing pleasure and provides individual track controls, mixdown capabilities, cue point and loop list controls to help you stretch your creative genius to new heights.
MySoundStudio can be purchased direct from Stomp, Inc. for $69 on the Stomp website. This puts the product in direct competition with products like Cool Edit and Sound Forge XP. Our observations indicated that sound quality and sampling frequency capabilities were on par or better than the competitors products. Probably the best thing MySoundStudio has going for it, however, is it's ease of use. As I mentioned earlier, it's not too often you find a product that can combine so much functionality and still have a relatively small learning curve.
If you're in the market for a tool to help you create, edit and manipulate audio tracks that is still simple to use, you'll want to check out MySoundStudio. Be sure to stop by the Stomp, Inc. web site at www.stompinc.com for more information and trial version downloads.
