Dominance in Both World and Open Classes a Franchise First

Los Angeles, CA, October 6, 2009 — Roland Corporation U.S. is proud to congratulate the Concord Blue Devils Drum Corps on an undefeated 2009 season culminating with their 13th world-class title at the Drum Corps International Finals in Indianapolis. Not only did the World Class Blue Devils A Corps earn the gold medal, but their Blue Devils B Corps won first place as well in the open-class championship.

This year’s nearly 12-minute routine for the A Corps incorporated musical themes from songs that were popular during the Great Depression, a nod to the parallels that are seen in today’s economic climate.

As a regular part of their practice routine, both the A & B Corps utilized the RMP-12 Rhythm Coach® to enhance their skills with its various built-in training exercises. For their performances on the field, the Blue Devils used the Fantom-G Workstation Keyboard for accompanying piano and bass lines, and SPD-S Sampling Pad and SP-404 Sampling Workstation to trigger samples to round out the ensemble.

“The ability to enhance our sounds and add depth to our productions was possible because of our Roland electronic instruments,” says David Gibbs, Executive Director of the Blue Devils. “It was one of the components that helped give us our edge to win!”
