Paul Reed Smith makes appearances to promote new amps

Paul Reed Smith is a legendary name among guitar afficianados, but recently the esteemed guitar builder started making PRS amps. To help promote the amp line-as well as his guitars-Paul Reed Smith is making personal appearances at various locations. This isn't the first time PRS is making amps. Back in the '80s, the company made a line of solid-state amps that are highly collectible and rare-as well as being considered tone machines. I remember reading interviews with Lynyrd Skynyrd saying they used the PRS solid-state amps in their backline. The beginning of the press release says the appearances go through August of 2009, but at the end of the release it states that new dates have been added for December. This might be a great chance to meet one of the guitar world's (and now amp world's) most esteemed names and be able to pick his brain. Here's the release. To make things easier, I deleted the dates from over the summer and kept the upcoming dates.

In a move to connect customers and dealers with the new PRS Guitars, PRS Amps and PRS Acoustics on a more individual level, Paul Reed Smith has scheduled a nationwide tour of personal appearances April through August 2009. Demonstrations, clinics and signings by Paul are scheduled for each location along with special artist meet and greets. Participating dealers will also showcase some unique guitars not currently offered as part of the PRS line. These guitars are made from small batches of special wood and will be sold at each dealer location in very limited quantities. Paul Reed Smith’s goal during these appearances is to reward enthusiasts with a unique perspective on making instruments and finding the guitar of their dreams while also giving dealers and their customers insight into the heart of PRS in a way that only Paul can share. Customers and dealers will learn directly from Paul how materials and construction enhance guitar tone and what sets special musical instruments apart. The different tonal qualities of the new PRS Amps and the new PRS Acoustics will also be discussed, and dealers and sales folks will receive specialized PRS training directly from Paul during these visits. Paul Reed Smith said, "I really enjoy meeting customers and salespeople and getting to know them personally. It’s cool when I can share something with them that is a little unexpected...to see their eyebrow raise. I love it." The new Sunburst Series (Sunburst 22, Sunburst 245 and Smokeburst McCarty), Mira X, Starla, Tonare Grand and Angelus Cutaway Acoustics, and the new PRS Amplifier line will be demonstrated at each location.
