Axe Music and Peavey Electronics Announce The Ultimate High School Battle of the Bands Tour: The Axtreme Fest 2003

Press Release

2003-02-21

The staff at AXE Music, Western Canada's premier musical instrument store, have been working their tails off organizing the world's largest high school "Battle of the Bands" competition. AXEtreme Fest consists of a competition by bands from participating regional high schools. AXE Music provides top of the line professional equipment, high-end audio, intelligent lighting, and a brand new backline of Peavey gear for all of the bands to use. AXE staffers even act as roadies, handling gear set-up and tear down, and AXE runs the sound and lighting with help from the students.

Band members simply have to bring their guitars and drumsticks! Musical genres don't matter - all bands are welcome. All together the "tour" aspect of the AXEtreme Fest competition markets and showcases over 600 acts, with more than 2,500 up-and-coming musicians, to over 90,000 high school students in Alberta. The best part? Participation is FREE!

The top band from each school as chosen by the audience proceeds to the AXEtreme Fest Semifinals, which features all regional winners. Semifinals are held in large venues in Calgary and Edmonton during April and May 2003. The main event is huge, with Rock Star-like treatment for the bands. The semifinalists each get a package of professional pictures for use in their band press kit and a complete set of professionally recorded 'Wave' files to document their performance. The finalists get to play at Stage 13, a large Edmonton-area rock venue www.stage13.net Winning bands and schools will receive a "Gold Record"-style trophy.

Registration closes five days prior to each high school's respective tour date. To register your band and school, visit http://axemusic.com/axetreme/index.htm. , or call the following Axe Music locations:
