TAMA announces Artwood Custom Limited Edition Snares

Following the releases of two steel Limited Edition snare drums for 2010 (the Starphonic Stainless Steel Model and Metalworks Steel Snare Model), TAMA has just announced the third 2010 Limited Edition snare. But this time, rich maple is the material used on the model shell construction.

The Artwood Custom Exotic Wood Snare Drum Models features an all maple shell that is slightly thicker (7ply/6mm) than its award winning brother, the Startphonic Maple (6ply/6mm). An outer ply of Maple Burl combined with black nickel hardware gives this snare drum a natural, exotic, and sleek look. The Artwood Custom Exotic Wood Snare Drum features triple-flanged steel hoops that, paired with the addition of the thick shell drum, give extra warmth and projection to its sound. This Limited Edition snare drum model comes in two different sizes:

  • 5.5”x14”: Only 60 pieces available in the US. Retail price $279.99
  • 6.5”x 13”: Only 50 pieces available in the US. Retail price $259.95

The Artwood Custom Exotic Wood Snare Drum Models come equipped with the Evans G1 Reverse Dot head on the batter side. The center dot adds mode focus to the sound as well as increased durability. This snare drum model also comes with the distinctive TAMA Snare Drum metal emblem that sets it apart from the rest. The Artwood Custom Exotic Wood Snare Drum Models seem to be TAMA’s last release of their 2010 Limited Edition Snare line. Hurry up if you want to be part of the exclusive group of TAMA limited Edition snare owners, otherwise you will have to wait until 2011.
