Peavey XXL Guitar Amplifier Head Wins Guitar Player Editors' Pick Award

Guitar Player magazine recently honored Peavey's XXL guitar amplifier head with its distinguished Editors' Pick Award. XXL Series amps feature Peavey’s exclusive TransTube technology, which emulates the sound of tube amplifiers while utilizing solid-state construction. Assistant Editor Jude Gold declared the XXL "fierce enough to have some 6L6s, 12AX7s and EL34s fearing for their jobs."
The XXL won the award for its innovative tube emulation technology, value and tone. "Practically every channel and voicing proved to be toothy and musical—especially when the amp's muscular power section was pushed hard," said Gold. "The tone seemed to get warmer as the amp got louder, and there was little evidence of the brittleness that plagues some solid-state amps."
