Ned Steinberger To Design New Steinberger Instruments

Ned Steinberger, the inventor of headless guitars and basses, will once again be directly involved in the design, development and marketing of Steinberger-brand instruments, thanks to a new 5-year consulting agreement with Gibson Musical Instruments. GMI purchased the Steinberger company in 1986, and Steinberger's return will provide a strong foundation for the long-term future of the Steinberger line as well as to ensure that future designs carry on the same unique and innovative Steinberger characteristics as in the past.

"It's been almost 20 years since GMI bought Steinberger, and during that time, Ned has continued to think about new designs as well as improvements to existing designs," said GMI representative Jim Rosenberg. "We're very excited about working directly with Ned again, and for the future of Steinberger."

Ned Steinberger - Inventor of the headless guitar.

Steinberger's headless bass, introduced in 1980, offered a rare combination of radical new design and improved functionality. In 1999, GMI formed a new partnership with MusicYo.com, an online-only wholesaler, to produce and sell Steinbergers direct to musicians. Since then, sales have grown significantly and as a result, Steinberger is in an excellent position to expand and further grow the Steinberger line of guitars and basses.

"Steinberger is on the move again." says Ned Steinberger. "I'm excited to be a part of it, especially the new products we will be offering."
