A perfect example of the emerging generation of multi-use project studios that cater to music, commercials, film, and television chooses the Blue Sky Sky System One 2.1 monitoring system because only Blue Sky can cover so many bases, so accurately and reliably.
FARMINGDALE, NY, April 15, 2003 — Synchronicity-Music, Inc. quintessentially illustrates a significant new paradigm rapidly emerging in the professional audio business. The well equipped, hard disk recording-based project-type facility, located in a comfortable home-like atmosphere and operated by musically creative people, can now offer services to a wide array of clients. From music composition and recording, to audio for television, film, and commercials, flexibility is the key to making this new model of studio work. Like so many facilities around the world, Synchronicity-Music turned to the Blue Sky Sky System One 2.1 speakers as its primary monitoring system precisely because of their remarkable flexibility. Synchronicity-Music’s purchase of the Blue Sky speakers was made through RSPE, a leading Hollywood-based pro audio resource.
“I’ve never encountered a speaker in this price range, or higher, in many cases, that covers the entire spectrum so fully and so smoothly,” comments Graham Ward, Owner and Producer at Synchronicity-Music. Ward — also an acclaimed drummer who has worked with such legends as Paul McCartney and Tom Jones, as well as a main stream session musician in London for some 25 years — notes that the types of music that have passed through the portals at Synchronicity-Music is indeed varied. Collaborating with music colleagues Mike 'Smidi' Smith and Brian Steckler, Ward and Synchronicity-Music have created and produced theme music for the Fox network’s NASCAR broadcasts, as well as worked with artists on Sony Records, Capitol Records, Atlantic Records, and J Records, including recent tracks for O-Town and Play. The studio has also done audio-for-video work for cable television companies including Showtime, MTV, and VH1. It’s a highly diverse client range, particularly considering that Synchronicity-Music only opened in June of last year.
“What we’re getting is a tremendously broad range of projects, from Urban music that requires low frequencies to perform well, to television, in which an entire frequency spectrum has to be compressed into a smaller dynamic range, but still sound good,” Ward explains. “The Blue Sky 2.1 system was the only speaker system that could cover this wide a range of projects and give us clear, clean, and accurate monitoring. They do it with no ear fatigue and, remarkably, they sound as good and are as accurate at either high or low volumes. That kind of flexibility is absolutely necessary for the wide range of work we do here.”
Ward is finding that Blue Sky monitors are rapidly establishing themselves as an industry standard, and many other musicians and producers Ward and his collaborators work with have also turned to Blue Sky for the same reasons. “People come here and hear a mix and they inevitably inquire about the monitors, and next thing you know they’re using Blue Sky as well,” Ward says. “Of all the things we had to purchase to build a facility like this, I would put the Blue Sky monitors at the top of the list of things I think were the best acquisitions. And I’m glad they were so cost-effective — I can tell you I would have been prepared to pay more for this kind of sonic quality.”
