AKG MICROPHONES AND HEADPHONES FEATURED AT ST. LOUIS'S LEGENDARY SHELDON CONCERT HALLAKGPosted 2003-06-04 Known simply as "The Sheldon," the celebrated Sheldon Concert Hall has been a St. Louis landmark since its construction in 1912. Designed by famous World's Fair architect Louis C. Spierling, the Sheldon Concert Hall is the site of over 300 events each year featuring some of the world's finest musicians in its acoustically pristine setting. In addition to its world-class concert hall, the Sheldon Art Galleries include six exhibit spaces dedicated to jazz history, photography, architecture and St. Louis art and artisans.
The Sheldon regularly hosts artists such as Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Kiri Te Kanawha, Wynton Marsalis, Willie Nelson, Itzhak Perlman and Jessye Norman.
The Sheldon Concert Hall is a beautiful example of early 20th century architectural splendor with gorgeous stained glass windows and beautiful woodwork. The sound of the room is perfect for live recordings, especially with an enthusiastic audience and every seat in the house enjoys great sightlines of the stage.
The Sheldon recently acquired a collection of AKG microphones and headphones to augment its in-house sound and recording systems. The Sheldon is using the AKG C 900 condenser vocal microphones, the C 1000 S probe condenser microphones, the D 112 bass microphones, the C 414 large-diaphragm condenser microphones and the K 240 Studio headphones. Many of the artists that perform and record at the Sheldon will use these AKG products to augment their performances.
Dale Benz, the Sheldon's Curator and Director, said "AKG makes the best microphones in the world, and in such a unique and remarkable acoustic setting, we can only rely on AKG to deliver all the nuances of the incredible performances at our concert hall."
Upcoming events at the Sheldon include performances by Diane Schuur, Gato Barbieri, Doc Watson, John McEuen and Jimmy Ibbotson, Amy Oshiro, Larry Coryell, Leo Kottke and many other notable artists
