BLUEPORT SOUND SELECTS AKG K 1000 HEADPHONES FOR ACCLAIMED LIVE RECORDINGS(AKG | Posted 2003-06-14)  For more than twenty years, Jim Merod, founder and chief recording engineer at Blueport Sound, has tracked live performances for a virtual who's who in the blues and jazz world. The K 1000 uses a completely open, freely-vibrating dynamic transducer that is suspended in front of each ear that ensures that each ear receives a portion of the signal from the other ear. These binaural acoustic cues allow a listener to perceive a much more open, diffuse, "out-of-head" listening experience than is possible with any other headphone. Since the K 1000 doesn't actually push on or around your ears, they are very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time too.
