Release Clint Black Signature Model from Taylor Press Release "You couldn't pay me a million dollars to put my Taylor down and play another guitar," says country superstar Clint Black. "It's just the way I am. I could drive any kind of car I want, and I will always own a Porsche. And I will always own a Taylor!" Black's enthusiasm for his Taylor guitars (Clint and his guitarist-collaborator, Hayden Nicholas, own several Taylors between them) has led to the creation of the Clint Black Signature Model (CBSM). The Limited Edition guitar is an acoustic-electric Grand Concert 6-string with a Venetian cutaway, back and sides of East Indian rosewood, and a top of Engelmann spruce, edged with Presentation Series-style abalone and Ivoroid binding. Black was personally involved in every aspect of the CBSM's design, which uses his long-time favorite Taylor model, the 912c, as a starting point. The CBSM has the words "These Times" inlaid on the fingerboard (in Black's own handwriting) and corresponding musical notes, on a musical staff wrapped around a large feather quill. The snippet of lyrics is from the song "When I Said I Do", which Black feels is his best work. In recent years, Black has propagated a love of Taylor instruments by making a special gift of his koa K22 to good friend Eric Idle of Monty Python fame. Singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop also found his way to a Taylor of his own after playing a koa K14 at Black's house. Each Clint Black Signature Model will have a custom sticker inside, featuring Black's and Bob Taylor's signatures. Only 100 CBSMs will be made. Roger will be playing his RW300 on his critically acclaimed In The Flesh 2002 world tour and beyond. Roger has been playing the Washburn RR300 for two years and has been very impressed with the guitar over this time. When Washburn approached him about a Signature Limited Edition, he gladly agreed to work with us on this special offering. The RW300 brings together a Seymour Duncan P90 style pickup and a Fishman preamp with a piezo bridge. These pickups, in conjunction with the chambered mahogany body and solid spruce top, reduce the chance of feedback and give the RW300 an extremely accurate and vibrant acoustic tone. Roger was the creator and sonic architect of such undeniable classics as Dark Side Of The Moon (which spent nearly 15 years on the Billboard 200 album chart), The Wall (which has been certified 23x RIAA platinum), Animals, Wish You Were Here, and Final Cut. Following Final Cut, Roger Waters left Pink Floyd. His first full-length solo album, The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking was released in April 1984 to great critical and popular success, generating his first solo tour. June 1987's Radio K.A.O.S. continued the path of solo success, bringing Roger back to the stage. His last full-length solo album, the moody and ironic Amused To Death, considered by many to be a comparable achievement to Dark Side Of The Moon or The Wall, was released in August 1992. Waters has been working on Ca Ira (pronounced sa-ira), an opera in English and French, a new rock album to be released in 2002 and Echoes the best of Pink Floyd, which was re-mastered by long time Pink Floyd producer James Guthrie. I paid $400 AUD (although I think it had $499 on the sticker).I brought it as I wanted an Acoustic guitar so I could get that special acoustic sound from it, A sound that you can't quite get, even with an effects pedal on the electric. I have an Electric, but there is nothing like playing an acoustic. I think I like this guitar more then my electric! It's a great sounding guitar. Very light construction and a great finish. Gives me a very crisp and nice clean sound. While Fender dont go all out providing an exciting finish on the guitar, they do go all out to make sure the construction is great, which of course provides for great sound. Plus of course you have a "Fender" sitting on the guitar stand! Well, as it sits here right beside me on it's stand, I can see nothing that I dont like about it... Nothing. It plays really well, sounds great & looks good. I was supprised at the price - I played and seen many guitars which were a whole lot more expensive then this one, yet didn't really appeal to me and what I like in a guitar (Basicly a nice sound, with a good feel and easy to play). It's a very light guitar, and I'm scared if I bump it I will break it... But I'd also be scared if i were driving an expensive car! Nothing to worry about though, I have bumped it a few times, and I can't see any dents or scratches on it. If you take care of your equipment you'll be fine. If you're looking at a new acoustic guitar, this could be the one for you. When I were looking for an Acoustic, it had to be a solid top, very nice sounding, good strings, nice construction and reasonably priced. Well this guitar has all that. It's really worth playing this guitar to compare before you buy one. Even if your budget is a little higher then what this guitar is priced. You'll be supprised! You can see more details on the specifications of the guitar, along with a picture of what it looks like at this web site address: http://www.fender.com/acoustics/acoustic/dg14s.html 5 Jason Hicks Taylor Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitars Purchased at Guitar Center for $249 for my son. Good 3/4 size for my son. Nice action. Fun to bang on around the campfire or as a second guitar when a pick'n friend comes over. Thin sound but what do you expect from such a small box. Good construction. Typical Taylor. Nice little guitar well made nice action best option I could find for my sons 7 year old hands. 4 Jimmy Aspen AW27S Acoustic Guitars I purchased this guitar from American Music Supply for $159US on special from their catalogue. I bought this instrument because of the advertised features - solid spruce top, bound neck, Grover tuners. There was not much I liked about this unit. This guitar is made by Samick in Indonesia for AMS. The finish and workmanship were ok. The setup (Valley Arts Music in LA) was terrible - strings rattled on the frets on all three guitars sent to me. One of the Grover tuners was defective on the first instrument I received and it was exchanged. The scond instrument I received was also defective and it was returned. The third (final) instrument had a badly warped neck and it was returned for a full refund. American Music Supply were extremely helpful throughout this ordeal and paid for the return of all three guitars and issued a timely refund. I contacted Samick (the manufacturer) here in LA and they were no help - couldn't care less and referred me to AMS. The materials and workmanship were okay, the setup on all three guitars was terrible. I was very disappointed in the manufacturer of this guitar (Samick). The vendor (AMS) exhibited excellent customer service and I would like to have bought a guitar from them. Also if this guitar is properly setup it is a very good buy for the price. The tone was quite good. 1 Jim Pepoon Ovation CS257 Celebrity Deluxe Acoustic Guitars Guitar Center San Jose, CA approx. $400 Purchased for Home Recording and Live performance. This guitar has a comfortable neck with good action. The player is able to play fast lines with ease. The rounded back is very comfortable in a live situation, plus the Adamas sound hole design has always been an eye-catcher! The unplugged tonality is less-than-desirable. The Ovation Celebrity doesn't reach its full potential until it's plugged in. This is an electric guitar player's acoustic guitar. Anyone who wants to shred or anyone who wants to play jazz chords will feel "at home" with the Ovation Celebrity. I purchased this guitar two years ago for about $400. At the time, it was a great investment since I had major gigs coming up that required me switch from electric to acoustic with ease. The Ovation Celebrity addressed all my needs with its available features and versatility. Overall, this is a great guitar for any electric guitar player looking for the means to branch out into the acoustic realm. 4 JJ Luis Martin DM Acoustic Guitars Purchased in 1998 at Midnight Music, Pittsburgh, PA. Paid $565 including hardshell case. This guitar has a wonderful full loud bright sound to it. The guitar seems to sound and look better as it ages. Stays in tune wonderfully. I compared it to a lot of guitars in the same price range and it was far superior. Another nice thing about Martins is that they carry a lifetime warranty. I can't really say that there is anything I dislike about the DM. Spruce top, laminated mahogany back and sides, natural finish. Standard Dreadnought Guitar. Nothing fancy. I have had no quality problems. I didn't have to make any adjustments to it when I got it. It was set up perfect. I was little concerned with how thin and light the material seemed but to this date I have had no problems with that. I've taken this guitar everywhere and it has held up beautifully. This guitar is definitely worth the money I paid. I absolutely love this guitar. If you are looking for a guitar and your price range is around $600 I'd highly recommend trying out a Martin DM. 5 James Sc hwarz |
