KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic Program Finds A Home At The Village

Englishman, Ed Harcourt, recently dropped in at The Village while on a solo tour of the USA. A multi-instrumentalist, Harcourt sang several of his indie-pop-tinged tunes to his own piano accompaniment for a live broadcast of Los Angeles radio station KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic program. Harcourt was in Los Angeles touring in support of his second full-length CD, 2003’s Heavenly Recording release, From Every Sphere. Harcourt and his full band will make their way across all of North America in the summer of 2003, and will even support R.E.M. for several dates this September 2003. The Village session was engineered by Jason Wormer and assisted by Greg Imler.

Grandaddy brought their hybrid indie-rock-meets-alt-country sound to The Village recently to play live for KCRW’s famous Morning Becomes Eclectic radiobroadcast. Grandaddy performed in support of their brand new release on V2, entitled Sumday, which follows up on 2000’s critical darling, The Sophtware Slump. Grandaddy will spend the summer months of 2003 touring the United States and Europe. The Grandaddy session was engineered by Village veteran Jason Wormer and assisted by Andy Brohard.

Starlight Mints played a live radio broadcast for KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic program from The Village Studios on a day off from their tour with fellow Oklahoma natives, The Flaming Lips. The Starlight Mints’ unique combination of indie-pop-with-an-integrated-chamber-orchestra emanated from The Village’s studio A and fanned out across the Southern California airwaves. Starlight Mints is currently touring in support of its sophomore CD, 2003’s Pias America release entitled Built on Squares. The live session was engineered by Jason Wormer with Jared Nugent assisting.
