MAPEX DRUMS SPONSORS GREG BISSONETTE CLINICSMapexPosted 2003-10-24 Mapex Drums recently sponsored a series of free drum clinics with legendary drummer and Mapex endorsing artist Greg Bissonette. The clinics took place last month in conjunction with Mapex retailers throughout the United States. A special clinic and performance given at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA on September 16th was also included as part of the itinerary.
During the seminars, Bissonette demonstrated and explained his drumming techniques, discussed his illustrious career and offered advice on the qualities to look for in a drum kit. Bissonette, a Mapex endorsing artist since 1997, plays a Mapex Orion Classic drum kit.
The clinics took place throughout September starting at Mozingo Music in St. Louis, MO on September 6th. From there, Bissonette traveled to Strings & Things in Memphis, TN (Sept. 13), the Drum Center of Lexington, KY (Sept. 17), Willis Drum Center in Florence, KY (Sept. 18) and, finally, Scott’s Drum Center in Lafayette, LA (Sept. 20).
Bissonette has performed with Joe Satriani, James Taylor, Ray Charles, Don Henley, Tania Maria, Brian Wilson and many others. Bissonette also played on Santana’s Grammy winning album Supernatural and played on “El Farol” which won the Grammy for “Best Pop Instrumental of the Year” in 2000. Bissonette recently completed a Spring Tour with Ringo Starr, calling it “one of the greatest experience of my life.”
Considered by many drummers to be one of the most outstanding drum clinicians in the world, Bissonette gives up to 50 clinics each year. “Greg’s clinics are truly inspiring for drummers at all levels,” said Mapex Marketing and Artist Relations Director Jeff Ivester. “He’s a great showman, and an absolutely amazing drummer. Audiences are always thrilled at his events.”
