Reprising what has become one of the consumer electronics industry’s most effective and successful marketing events, the TechKnow Overload (TKO) Campus Technology Tour kicked off the longest and most ambitious schedule in its four-year history. The TKO Tour, under the aegis of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and sponsored by a number of leading entertainment technology companies, offers yet another exciting first this year. This high-energy technology showcase now features DJ Lamont leading continuous entertainment throughout the 7,000-square-foot exposition, which will be seen by an estimated 100,000-plus viewers at 25 U.S. campuses. Attendees will listen to DJ Lamont performing with the world’s most cutting edge DJ technologies, supplied by Denon Electronics (USA) LLC.

“As a founding member of the group that conceived and launched the TKO Tour four years ago, we at Denon have always prided ourselves on providing innovative, high quality technologies for this showcase,” remarks Stephen Baker, President, Denon Electronics. “This year, with the addition of a leading DJ as MC for the exposition using Denon DJ systems, attendees at TKO will be able to hear a great DJ working on equipment that is designed to allow DJs to truly express themselves. The importance of the DJ in contemporary lifestyle should not be underestimated, and this is an excellent way for us to get our product message heard by a substantive demographic of electronics consumers.”

Those attending the TKO Tour will hear DJ Lamont spin on the latest Denon DJ systems. These include the DN-D9000, Denon’s top-of-the-line rack-mounted, remote-controllable dual CD player; the highly successful DN-S5000, a tabletop CD player with an interactive spin platter that allows DJs to emulate the feel of a vinyl turntable but still access all of the capabilities and sound quality of digital audio; and Denon’s DN-X800 mixer, the most facile and best-sounding DJ mixer on the market today. The Denon gear can be heard though a PA supplied by Community Audio.

The Fall 2003 TKO Tour will feature several new pavilions, including a 200-square-foot “digital haven” showcasing the latest in wireless technologies, PDAs, and digital cameras. The CEA’s Ultimate Dorm Room invites students to a 400-square-foot, fully outfitted high-tech sanctuary. The Surround Sound Pavilion showcases new 5.1 multi-channel audio systems, including systems from Denon Electronics. Furthermore, this edition of the TKO Tour will also go longer and farther than any before, with an additional Spring Break session planned for 2004, as well as routings through malls across the country.

“The Tour this year is especially exciting because of its scope,” says Stephen Gates, Senior Manager of Communications for the CEA. “The DJ is the crown jewel in the show, because now the entertainment is interactive; DJ Lamont can gauge the tempo of the crowd and keep the excitement level high, which is key to engaging the consumer. What’s equally great is that DJ Lamont will be working on state-of-the-art equipment supplied by Denon,” concludes Gates.
