AKG Acoustics Announces New Features and Packaging for the C1000 S – One of the Most Versatile Microphones on the MarketAKGPosted 2004-02-03 The AKG C 1000 S is one of the most popular condenser microphones on the market thanks to its superlative performance, great versatility and impressive value for both studio and stage use. This venerable microphone has been called the "Swiss Army Mic" and has been upgraded again by AKG with improvements in features and packaging.
One of the most important features of the C 1000 S is that it can be powered either by phantom voltage or by an internal 9-Volt battery, which allows it to be used in places that other condenser mics can't be used. The new C 1000 S is now equipped with a battery monitoring system to continuously check the condition of the battery. When the microphone is switched on, a red LED at the bottom of the on/off switch flashes once to indicate that the battery has enough current to power the microphone. When the battery's life drops to 45 minutes, the red LED stays on as a warning to indicate low battery power.
The C 1000 S comes with the PPC 1000 which allows the microphone to be switched from cardioid to hypercardioid pickup for greater pickup pattern control. It also comes with a PB 1000 presence boost adaptor that boosts the upper mids between 5 kHz and 9 kHz to add intelligibility and sizzle to the sound.
The C 1000 S is packaged in AKG's "Sound Tools" all-metal hard-shell road case complete with a W 1000 windscreen and SA 63 unbreakable stand clamp. Made in Vienna, Austria, the C 1000 S is covered by a three-year parts and labor warranty from AKG.
The new C 1000 S is a precision-built European condenser microphone with improved functionality packaged in a metal hard-shell road case with a list price of $322.00. Its value is undeniable.
