Renowned Artist Plays Two Mapex Kits During Dave Matthews & Friends Tour

Mapex Drums endorsing artist Brady Blade Jr. is working a double shift during the current Dave Matthews & Friends Tour. Blade’s drumming will be backing both Dave Matthews and Emmylou Harris as they perform live. Blade will be performing with his Mapex Saturn Pro drum kit during each set.

“Mapex is the only drum manufacturer who can fit my unique needs,” stated Blade. “On this tour I am working double duty with my Saturn Pro kit. It is an amazingly versatile drum set that allows me to play several types of music; which is exactly what I need on this tour.”

Blade, a longtime member of the Emmylou Harris band, recently hooked up with Dave Matthews for the recording of his first solo CD “Some Devil,” released in September 2003. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Blade has become a sought after studio musician in Nashville in recent years. A Mapex Artist since the mid 1990’s, Blade has recorded and toured with a variety of big name artists such as Steve Earle, Chris Whitley, and the Indigo Girls, in addition to his work with Emmylou Harris. He also enjoyed a very long and successful tour with Jewel in support of Jewel's second album, “Spirit” in 1998. Blade’s drumming style is influential to Country, Americana and Alternative Rock drummers worldwide.

2003 has been an extremely busy year for Blade, who recorded, and recently completed an autumn tour, with Emmylou Harris in support of her release “Stumble Into Grace.” Earlier in the year he went into the studio with Dave Matthews, as Matthews put together an all-star band to record his first ever solo CD. The band also included Phish lead man Trey Anastasio, guitarist Tim Reynolds, and bassist Tony Hall.

“Brady is the perfect spokesman for Mapex,” announced Mapex Artist Relations Director Joe Hibbs. “He can play every style of music, and that is evident on this latest tour. Mapex drums are a perfect match for his diverse style of drumming, and we are proud to be an important part of his sound.”
