Ha! only ovation virgins! You get used to it after a while. The medium depth ate harder.

They're out of New Orleans and Colorado. Bluesy, New Orleans, Folk, Country, Rock. Great vocals and the lead guitarist/singer, Tommy Malone, is excellent. They have a big underground fan base but have never had a commercial hit to my knowledge. A go

Matt - you may want to check out the "Why Maple" thread from late last year...has a lot of info about maple that helped me. From what I understand - maple has resonant qualities that many other types of woods don't posses. I feel when cho

Agreed - being a relatively new drummer, it makes me feel more comfortable that I am fulfilling my duties as the drummer well and makes the band solid tight. Especially when I send the click to the bassist! Unfortunately, you can't rely on your rig

For about 6 months now - it is actually new within the last year. Cheaper than S.I.R. and Soundcheck and allows us to have a place to keep our gear set up and feel safe leaving it there. Let me know when you're in Nashville again - love to meet up

Are they a local band? I will definitely have to check them out - Where are you seeing them? I am always amazed with percussionists that can fill the rhythmic needs of a band with simple instruments such as the tambo! I can't believe it has been 3

Very cool, Trevin. I've never used the 195 on a guitar amp - we did use it on all of the vocals for upcoming ep - you'll hear it soon!

Good point - buy the cheap stuff at the grocery store but buy the best when it comes to the durables.

Goodness, don't get me wrong, I'm glad your guitar has lived so long - but - I can't stand ovations because you have to have a strap to play them or they slide of your lap! What good is that?!

Funny enough, one of our best sounding live recordings came from a band members wives video camera. She was just far enough away that it didn't distort and she got a great signal! I guess anything can really work as a reference - it's not like were

Ahhh! It's saying that the serial isn't recognized. I think it's an incomplete SN.

It's hard to say without the price book. It could be quite valuable. Being that it is pre 1970. I don't think the sunburst was a rare color but I could be wrong. A quick check on eBay had two listings. One was $2000 and one was $11,500. I think it wo

I just picked up a pretty old (pre-1970, I think) Epi Crestwood. The nut is broken and it needs to be re-fretted. It's in pretty good shape, but I don't know the first thing about these guitars. Could anyone help me determine it's worth? I'll post a

Subdudes

I'm off to see the Subdudes at a show in Pittsburgh tonight. Great band. If you've never heard or seen them, check out Steve Amedee, the "drummer." He uses only a tambourine on most gigs, but he makes it sound like a kick & a snare. O
