Just wondering if anyone even MAKES organ shoes for men. Is our profession so far dominated by females that nobody even makes them anymore?
I always get comments or even pointing fingers when people see me with no shoes on my feet walking around the church before a gig. I even had a nice elderly couple offer to donate a pair of their old sneakers to me. I guess I must've looked a little dusty that day...but I think it's time I get myself a pair. Anybody know of a good maker?

I'll ask the organist at the church where I work, but she's female. She's been playing for over 40 years, though so she should know of a source. In the meantime, Brigham Young University has a page that recommends a place: http://www.organ.byu.edu/ORSHOE.html

Shack: The organist where I work recommends the same place: organmastershoes.com She says they have great selection. I was gonna suggest wrestling boots. On a Simpson's rerun last night, it was the one where Bart substitures Ina Gadda Da Vida for the hymn. The pastor says "Now let us sing In The Garden of Eden by I. Ron Butterfly." The organist collapses at the end.

Hahahaha, I somehow doubt wrestling boots would be an effective substitute for the Organ shoes. I'll check the site out for sure. Thanks for the help!

I've played with drumer who wore wrestling boots because the soles are so thin and the he claimed it increased feel for the kick drum. Some wore bowling shoes. But I know a guy who plays in Doc Maartens, and they have thick soles. What does KISS's drummer wear? Not platforms, I hope.
I know that if I wear shoes with too wide sole, I hit more than one pedal at a time on my Roland bass pedals, so I feel your pain.

Hahaha yeah. I usually just play in socks, but I thought I might give the shoes a try finally. Dang German pedal solos...How exactly do they expect me to trill on pedals? Really now...

Little known fact: Bach had three feet. Look it up on Wkipedia.
