Does anybody use the whammy on their guitar? I use whammy for light vibrato. I don't even use the bar, I just use the bridge. Also do you prefer a bigsby tremolo or a full whammy?

As far as Bigsby whammy bars, The only one I've seen use it consistently is Neil Young. Adrian Belew uses the whammy on hisstrat quite effectively. I haven't played with anyone in years who uses one, either the Fender style or Bigsby. But I don't play metal, which might attract that kind of player.

A lot of players use them for show only to get the crazy pitch bending effect. I prefer to use it in a somewhat more musical style to add vibrato when you want a little different timbre than using your finger or want to vibrato a chord instead of a single note.

Kahler made a bass whammy way back in the day and brought it back for a year or two recently. I usually don't find much use for one on guitar, but on bass?!? I mean, unless you're Billy Sheehan and you play guitar ON a bass, then, probably not.

Bass whammy... Could be interesting. Would have to be a pretty serious set up to be able to bend the low B string.

I believe Steinberger offered a bass with whammy at one time, and the Fender Bass VI had one. The late guitarist Danny Gatton used the Bass VI whammy on a song on his "Cruisin' Deuces" CD.

On guitar, David Rhodes uses a Steinberger guitar with whammy with Peter Gabriel quite often. David is the classic ensemble guitarist -- very seldom solos but adds incredible texture.
