Just want to put in plug for D'Addario Chromes flatwound bass strings. I've just installed them on my Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn jazz bass with Fralin pickups and they are a great match. After trying a couple of other brands of both rounds and flats on this bass, it came alive with the chromes. They are a bit higher tension than TI Jazz Flats and have a but more top end zing (at least new) but they are also even throughout the tonal spectrum. I'm not sure how long the zing will last, but when it does depart, they will produce a very nice Motown vibe on this bass. I did a session Saturday with the news strings, mixing a DI & a miked Bassmann 410, and the sound was excellent.

I used exclusively LaBellas on my basses, but due to extreme difficulty in finding them in Brasil, I've got some Chromes for my fretless Eko and they are now my first choice. Because of the consistency of tone from string to string, and the price: here in Brasil they cost half as much as the LaBellas (if I can find LaBellas).
