I never used to use a stompbox tuner but my last handheld died and thought I'd try one. I skimped and bought the little behringer. I am now spoiled with the convenience of the stompbox but want a better tuner. The behringer is overly touchy and wont pick up my low E unless I use a harmonic. And don't get me started on how dim the LED is.

Should I just muscle up and buy the Boss TU-3? Or is the Fender tuner for $45 good enough. I don't think I would consider the Korg, because it is $90 and isn't a power supply. If I spend $90 I will spend $100 and get the Boss.

One of the guitarist I play with uses the TU-2 and likes it a lot. It also powers other (V pedals. I've heard good things about the Korg PitchBlack tuner as well but haven't used one. Korg does seem to be pretty accurate, tough, in all it's tuning products. I think you'll have to spend around $100 -- prices I've seen are $89 for the Korg, $99 for the Boss.

Yeah, the Korg is accurate but it doesn't power the seven pedals like the Boss does. For ten bucks I think the Boss is a better go. The fender is cheap, but you get what you pay for some times. The Behringer was cheap...

Got the new TU-3 from Boss. Definitely an upgrade from the TU-2. The LED's are a lot brighter which will help for outdoor gigs. MUCH more accurate than the little Behringer I was using. Its also built much stronger.

I can't attest to Matt's comment about how bright the LED's are on the TU-3. It's the one thing I can see on his pedal board from way back behind the kit!

The Boss is...well...boss. Great little pedal. Definitely going to have that one in my pedal board when I start building it.
