I've got a crate gfx 212 that I bought new about ten years ago. When I turn it on all the LEDs light up but I get no sound, not even a hiss. This happened once before but it started working again. Got any ideas?

Connect a different speaker to the external speaker jack. If you get sound, something's up between amp & speakers or possibly in the input stage. But if you get no hiss or hum, even with the controls cranked, I'd guess output stage. Unfortunately you have no headphones out hack on this, correct? If you have a stereo Y cable (all 1/4" plugs), try plugging the stereo jack into the "insert" jack on the amp's front panel and running one side of the Y to another amp's input (keep the volume down on the other amp.) Then play through the Crate. If you get nothing, try plugging the other half of the Y into the other amp. If the amp is working but the output isn't, you should get a signal from one side of the Y jack, which is wired for send/return. If you get no signal from either side of the Y, something in the amp's wiring before that point is not working. Depends on wher the effects send/return enters the preamp.

Yeah I figure its got to be something involving the output since there is no noise at all even with the volume cranked. I'll give this a shot, thanks!
