Tom "T-Bone" Wolk, bassist for Hall & Oates. Elvis Costello and the Saturday Night Live Band, among others, and an all-around musician and producer, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, of an apparent heart attack. No DOB is listed online, but I believe was around 60 years old.
Most bassists appreciate Wolk's understated style on hits like H&O's "Maneater" and "Private Eyes." He also played accordion and guitar and was scheduled to appear with H&O on the Jimmy Fallon Show on March 1 (they cancelled, understandably). If you haven't listened to T-Bone's playing, do yourself a favor and track down some H&O from the early '80s. For the last 10 years or so, T-Bone had been playing mostly guitar with Daryl Hall, including on the "Live from Daryl's House" internet broadcasts. There are clips the show on Youtube, and there's also one of T-Bone doing a guitar solo at a live show, including putting the guitar behind his neck, which he also did on bass solos. Not as hard as it looks, but you have to appreciate his sense of showmanship.
