Check this out. Everyone is searching for the guitar that sounds like a single coil and like a humbucker. The fat strat tries to accomplish this by replacing the bridge single coil with a bucker, but it doesn't quite sound like either pickup to my ear. It loses some sparkling highs that the strat is known for and doesn't give you a gritty bucker sound that you get from running bridge and neck buckers together.

This setup from PRS seems to sound pretty close. I will be making a trip to Guitar center to give it a whirl soon.

I know a couple of the new 25th Anniversary guitars have the narrowfields in them. The Modern Eagle III and the Swamp Ash Narrowfield.
I love the Modern Eagles (which are apparently discontinued as of a few weeks ago with exception for the 25ths!?), so I wonder what the new one with those pickups sound like.
