Does anyone know anything about these guitars?
They look like Tele/Les Paul knock-offs. I got an offer to trade my Fender FMT HH Tele for a St. Blues 61 South, but I don't know enough about them to know if it's worth forking over the extra $300 on top of the trade.
Thoughts?

I checked their website and they have some high profile players listed -- Elliot Easton of the Cars, Rick Derringer, Jason Todd from Shinedown, one of the North Mississippi All Strs and others. They also look well made, but the test is in the playing. Any chance they'd let you play a gig or rehearse with it first?

I'm with Laklander here. Make sure you can play it for an extended rehearsal/gig. They look like neat guitars. It also depends on the sound you go for. I would rather have the ST. Blues because it has the single coil at the bridge. If you like the tele sound, this will probably have a more authentic sound. It won't dirty up as well as yours. Are you a distortion player? Or mostly overdrive? Also what amp do you play through? Semi-hollow body is cool. Maple neck is great, and all the components look great.

Play it and see!

I asked him if I could play it first and he kind of avoided that question, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem.
I do overdrive and distortion depending on the song, and I'm playing out of a Blackstar HT-5 right now. Sweet little amp.
I love my FMT but I've been wanting a classic, "real" Tele for a long time.

If that little amp you are playing is as high gain as the other Blackstars you wont have any trouble with distortion or overdrive, but you might have trouble getting the single coils to get sparkly clean. I still think its a good choice if you like the classic Tele sound. You will just have to play through a Blackstar AND a Fender Twin smile
